Risk and impact
of RSV in adults

Although usually mild,1,2 RSV infection can be serious in older adults.3–5

Lower respiratory complications, such as pneumonia, can also occur in older adults.2,3

Compared with younger adults, being an older adult can be associated with a higher rate of severe infections from RSV that 
may lead to hospitalisation.2,4,5

The immune system typically weakens with age,2,6,7 and older adults are at greater risk of RSV infection compared with younger adults.8
